Mini Review: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Ahh, concealer. How I love your ability to make me look awake, even if I feel like a zombie. c: I love, love, LOVE my Shiseido cream concealer, but unless I've primed/blotted/set with powder it sinks into the fine lines under my eyes. D: Tragic, but it's still the best concealer ever.

HOWEVER. I am very, very lazy. So I was looking for a less creamy concealer so I could just swipe it on and go (8 am classes, anyone?). Enter Maybelline's Fit Me concealer.

(And their marketing is so effective- now I feel incomplete not owning the rest of the line. ._. Words fail me, Maybelline).

The lip gloss-esque doe foot applicator is an epic idea but vaguely unhygienic.

My hand is darker than my face, lolol. It doesn't actually give me reverse panda eyes (Dream Lumi Touch, I'm looking at you).

This is in the shade 10, which is darker than 15 because Maybelline had a major logic fail. The consistency is quite thin, but medium coverage, which is nice because it doesn't feel like you're actually wearing anything. I just dab it on with the applicator and blend it with my fingers (which defeats the whole purpose of the applicator but I loathe rules, obviously). The only cons are the price (it was around $10 for the tube, which really isn't all that big) and the unhygienicness (it's a word now, dictionary. Suck it.) of the applicator.
It's easy to find your match, it's a nice blendable concealer, and it works wonders on dark circles, so I'd say you definitely ought to pick one up. c:

Mini Review: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

*Edit: I've never tried any proper BB creams, so I'm judging this according to its own merits. (/^▽^)/

I fully blame Bookpanda for causing my makeup obsession to be reignited (which has had the unfortunate side effect of greatly depleting the money I had squirreled away). Ahaha, makeup. ❤ How I love thee~
Anyways, I ventured to Walgreens with Bookpanda, and ended up buying a couple things that I've been eying for a while~

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream, Wet n Wild Coloricon eyeliner, Maybelline FitMe concealer

The tube is small, but sooo cute! I got this in the shade Light/Medium.

I have actually noticed most of these, although the effects are subtler than they would have you believe.

Originally, there was a silver seal over the opening, which I think is nice. That way you know no one's tried the product!

Here, it's blended all over the right side of my hand. You can see the brightening effect!

I freaking adore this BB cream. ❤ It's sheer, but it really does blur out freckles and even out your skin tone (I don't get pimples, so I'm afraid I don't know how well this would work with them). On my hand it's a little light, but on my face the color is just perfect, with a nice brightening effect. The finish is dewy, though, so if you have very oily skin it would be a good idea to set it with powder. However, on someone with just an oily T-zone, like me, it stays put all day. (｡◕‿◕｡)

The only gripe I have is that the tube does tend to get messy, and it's also hard to control how much product you're squeezing out.

Overall Rating: 5/5 I love this, and definitely suggest picking one up for yourself. c:

Review and Demo: Remington Curling Wand

Ooh, I haven't blogged in ages. Anyways...
It seems like all I've been seeing lately is the Remington curling wand (yes, I am soooo behind the times), so I tried my sister's and fell in love. And so I have finally purchased my own.

A stand so you won't burn whatever surface you set the wand on.

 According to the Remington website, this wand features

• Creates professional tight & loose curls.
• 410F salon high heat.
• Automatic shutoff.
• Precise digital controls.
• Includes heat protective glove for easy styling.

I got this at Target for $24.99, although it came out to $32 something after tax. I love that you can lock the heat so it doesn't fluctuate, and given how resistant my hair can be to heat styling I find it incredible and very useful that this gets to 410 degrees. I found it extremely easy to use, even on my first try, though the barrel is a little slippery. I personally prefer not to use the protective glove, but for people afraid of burning themselves it's a very nice thing to include, and it can be worn on either hand.

To prep my hair, I use these. L to R: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm, Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-in Conditioner (THIS STUFF IS AMAZING AND SMELLS LIKE HEAVEN), Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray

And this is my hair when it's hardly frizzy at all... ⊙﹏⊙ Anyways, brush your hair to get rid of any tangles and to evenly distribute any product.

I raised the temperature to the highest setting. Press and hold the (-) button to lock it! It heats up in about 30 seconds.

Wrap a section of hair (the size is up to you) around the barrel and hold it there for about 5 seconds. You can see I've already curled half of my head.

Voila! A pretty curl.

I finished curling the rest of my hair and then shook the curls out, which took perhaps 2 minutes. I prefer having more defined curls for a bohemian feel, but loose beachy waves are also easily achievable. 

Also, I think my face is broken, so forgive the nonexistent smiling. 

If you're going out, it's a good idea to finish with a light mist of hairspray (I like Aussie's Catch the Wave because it's light and smells like grape candy).

Basically, j'adore. ワンドが大好きです。Etc, etc. I highly recommend picking up one of these, even if you're inexperienced with heat styling tools! It's super easy to use, very versatile, fast, and works like magic~

Clinique Review: Black Honey, High Impact Mascara, Skincare, Eyeshadow, Blush

It's been forever!
I am a truly lazy and capricious creature, not to mention I have to suffer the indignity of schoolwork. But I've been kicking myself for neglecting my blog (although somehow I doubt that many people read it) and so here is a composite review on some Clinique products I've been absolutely loving lately. Also, please expect some hair product/tool reviews soon! ٩꒰｡•◡•｡꒱۶

This was all actually a free gift, because my sister and my mom purchased two lipsticks from Clinique. c:

Super pretty palette. The mirror is nice, the blush brush and the sponge applicator are nothing special.

Left to right: Soft-pressed powder blusher in mocha pink, shimmer shadow in Lucky Penny, and a single shadow from the Black Honey quad. I really love the shadows, especially Lucky Penny- they're super pigmented and shimmery and smooth! The blush is a little lacking in pigment (it took me about 5 swipes to build up that intensity) but it's a really pretty color, and would look gorgeous on fair skin.

Ahhh! The famous Clinique Black Honey lipstick.

It's a trial size, so it's pretty small.

Scaryyy! It looks almost black.

Left- one swipe, right- three swipes. While it looks weirdly yellowish on my hand, when you're actually wearing it it's gorgeous. I think it's a color that works on anyone, since it's sheer and has neutral undertones, which lets the natural color of your lips show through but also enhances it. It's really moisturizing and makes your lips look amazing, but of course the downside is that you have to reapply more often.
*Edit: I have tried Flirty Honey, but I definitely prefer Black Honey. c:

Officially my favorite moisturizer ever. It makes my skin super soft and smooth and velvety, and it absorbs quickly. It's a perfect makeup base and a nighttime moisturizer! I will definitely be buying this in the future. (It is worth noting, however, that my skin actually tends more towards being dry, and yet this works fantastically).

A nice watery gel consistency.

Bare lashes

With High Impact mascara. I think the photo speaks for itself. c: This stuff is crazy!

This is a little too rich for my skin. I much prefer the gel, even though my skin is more dry combination.

Anyways, I really like Clinique products! If only the packaging was cuter... Lioele, Canmake and Etude House are still my favorites when it comes to packaging.

Haha, I couldn't resist posting a picture of the Etude House store! It's just too cute~ (obviously, I take no credit for the preceding three pictures). Now, if only American brands had packaging like that... #shutupandtakemymoney

Review: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush + Swatches

I just realized, that with my purchase of the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam, I now own all three products in that mini line. D: I guess it's just all the awesome textures! I mean, how can you resist something called 'Airfoam'? It sounds like that foamy bubble solution I played with as a kid! And this blush is just... Oh my gosh.
So, I got the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in 05 Fresh Pink. And, let me tell you, this stuff is amazing. It's squishy, and bouncy... sort of like Play Doh, really. I've actually had this blush since April, so please forgive the messiness of the pan.

Price: I got this at Target for around $6, I believe.

Description: The Dream Bouncy Blush is available in 10 shades. According to the website:

• Revolutionary gel formula provides a new bouncy texture
• Lightweight like a powder, yet melts seamlessly into skin like a cream
• Natural sheer wash of color that is buildable for greater color intensity
• Dermatologist tested, allergy tested
• Non comedogenic

05 Fresh Pink is a really pretty color- it's like a super dolly, bubblegum pink, but it becomes a lot warmer when it's blended out. The texture is certainly fun! If you gently tap it, it does bounce back (though it won't if you press hard). It is an odd fusion of cream/gel/powder, and it's definitely unique. I really like it!

Packaging: Just a simple snap compact with a clear lid. Due to the nature of the blush, it does get messy, but it's hard to think of a type of packaging that wouldn't. It's sturdy enough that I"m not afraid of dropping it.

 This is pretty much the only blush I wear now, since it's so fun to play with an adorable color and really does melt into your skin.

Would I buy this again? Yes! I'm already eyeing 30 Candy Coral and 70 Hot Tamale.

Also, my iPod is officially adorable. I put my little Donutella charm on, to match the delicious pink Daiso... Goodness, what do you call them? Headphones? Earphones?

Review: Tokidoki Love From London Palette + Swatches

As with the Airways Palette, the Love From London palette was marked down from $42. However, this retailed at $25 rather than $19, I suppose because the Olympics give people more incentive to purchase English-y sorts of things. This is also Sephora exclusive and limited edition, I believe.

Packaging: Needless to say, ADORABLE. All the flags, the red telephone box, the iconic Tokidoki personages, and the bright colors just give this so much character. It's made out of the typical thick, stiff cardboard, so it's reasonably sturdy, and although not becoming of a $42 palette, it's fine for a $25 palette. The little Mozarella keychain with the hat and rifle is just too cuteeee!

Park Lane (matte pale yellow)

The Strand (shimmery blue sky)

Parliament Square (supposedly a bronzer, but waaay too pink. Definitely a blush)

Shadows: Silky, minimal fallout, and they just glide on. There's a variety of shimmery and matte, colorful and neutral shadows, but they all work together, which makes it a great palette. Again, the shimmery ones are shimmery and not gritty or glittery. The sole glittery one (Berwick Street) has little to no fallout. They are all just gorgeous! Park Lane and Sloane Square are a little disappointing in terms of pigmentation, but Carnaby Street is so ridiculous it more than makes up for that.

My favorite of the lot is definitely Berwick Street (although I love Carnaby Street too!). The photos don't do it any justice- it's a warm brown with a vague green duochrome and blue glitter. It looks fantastic and really quite unique in actuality. Parliament Square makes a lovely blush as well (what were they thinking when they called it a bronzer?).

Verdict: Definitely a hit. I love almost all of the colors!
